Ji Hun Kim
Jihun was originally working as a chef in a restaurant for 10 years, but with a fascination for movies and an interest in video editing, Jihun wanted to do something else, and decided to come to SAIT. Learning more and more about movies and how they’re made, Jihun found a passion for filmmaking while being a part of this program, and with gaining as much knowledge and experience as possible, Jihun is leaving this program with greater ambitions towards filmmaking, and with a dream of making a film in the future. With an overall goal of leaving the name Jihun Kim in the Canadian film industry, Jihun plans on pursuing a career as a Sound Mixer, and aims on becoming the best Sound Director in Canada. Doing so with perseverance, Jihun will work step by step towards achieving this goal. Post-graduation, Jihun is thinking about applying to a film production company while continuing to work as a chef, and looking for as many jobs as possible.
Jihun’s favourite movie is Catch Me If You Can (2002), and favourite director is John Favreau, while also admiring the actor Tom Cruise.
“I am Korean and my first language is not English. It gets me in the way sometimes but I've learned a lot in the last two years how to get over it and I'll get over it. And more sincere and passionate than anyone else.”
