Greg Fitzgerald

Greg’s lifelong love of movies and an insatiable need to put visuals and music together is what inspired him to take the FVP program here at SAIT. He first got into filmmaking through the freedom of storytelling that he got from using a camcorder as a kid, he loved being able to make those around him feel something from a story he could tell through a visual medium. Since attending SAIT, his passion for filmmaking has been tempered like a sword, taking all the metallurgical elements that were already there, adding in a few more, and making it higher quality, and stronger under heat and pressure. Greg has had a lot of fun and good experiences Producing while being a part of this program, and would love to continue doing so when making his own films and helping his friends make theirs. Leaving SAIT, Greg hopes to always retain the child-like passion he’s always had for filmmaking and movies. And at the end of the day, if he can wake up happy to go to work, can pay the bills to live a comfortable life, and have a career that allows him to travel, see his friends, and start a family one day, he would consider that success in the film industry. Anything more than that is a cherry on top.

With too many movies to pick a favourite, any movie that has Greg walking out of the theater feeling something deep within, is his favourite feeling to chase. His favourite directors are Taika Waititi, Fede Alvarez, Robert Eggers, Denis Villeneuve, and David Lowery, but his quest for new favourite directors is never ending.

When it comes to idolizing anyone within the industry, Greg has the utmost respect for people in higher roles (department heads or above the line) that have respect for everyone on set no matter their role. He thinks that everyone on a film set deserves the same amount of decency and respect from a-list actors to day-call PAs. He also has a huge respect for people in the film industry that can effectively make time for their friends and family while still being in such a time consuming career.
