Bethany Turnbull

Bethany always had a dream to work in film, and was able to find her voice as an artist while completing her Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts at AUArts, specializing in Media Arts. But wanting to learn more, she decided that SAIT would be the best place to learn more about the industry, and to make the necessary connections to thrive. After learning everything she has over the last two years, she has grown more confident in her skills and abilities, and wants to spend her life working to improve them. While attending SAIT she has found that she enjoys the role of being a Script Supervisor and would love to pursue that role in the future. She aspires to work in the Alberta film industry for the next couple of years, which will allow her to hone her skills, and also she hopes to start work as a Script Supervisor Trainee after graduation. Then she would like to work in Vancouver, specifically on a television series, with hopes that in the long term, she will one day be able to create a television series of her own.

One of Bethany’s favourite movies is The Lost Boys (1987), but she also has a soft spot for the movie, The Sound of Music (1965). She also idolizes the showrunner and producer Shonda Rhimes, viewing her as a strong, successful female filmmaker and role model. Bethany hopes that one day, she will become a role model for other young female filmmakers, as Shonda was for her.

“I would just like to say that I am so grateful for the experiences I have had, and the friends I have made. These have been the best 2 years of my life and I can't wait to see what the future has in store for me. I thank all the instructors for their dedication, and for giving me the tools to become a great filmmaker.”
